Welcome to season 2024, I hope you all had a great Christmas & New Year.
A quick update on all things Iggies, there has been plenty going on in the off season & it is terrific to see the players on the track working hard. The coaches & support staff have put together an excellent program with some new initiatives & there is a really good vibe around KRO & we thank all the coaches, medical & support teams for their enthusiasm to create the best football experience for our players.
Below is a summary of the main points for the first communication of the season:
Merchandise Portal. The Nelson merchandise portal is now open until Sunday 18th February 2024. We have mandated a return to specific match day attire for players as part of the One Club strategy, it is important we present as a professional club, it projects unity & shows we are organised & ready to play. The specifics are on the portal along with some additional items such as new college letter hoodies, a quarter zip jumper, new back pack & some casual tees. Players will also need to order match shorts - blue for women, white & blue for men, along with the club socks for round 1 prior to the 18th February.
The portal is also for parents & supporters to purchase any items prior to the season opener in mid-April, all orders will be delivered by late March/early April, the club does not hold stock so please jump on & purchase any club merchandise you might want for the season proper, go to:

School Relationship. Megan Leydon reached out to the school for assistance in contacting past cohorts of students who may be interested in playing & they will send out club info to their database, this is a great help for us to connect & we appreciate the support from the College.
Aquinas Relationship. It is with great pleasure we can announce the reestablishment of our relationship with Aquinas College, I would like to thank Steph Hamra for her support in progressing discussions so we can continue the strong connection we have both enjoyed over many decades. Aquinas have invited us to include club information & merchandise in their welcome packs for new students along with attending the College’s open day, we take this trust seriously & will work hard to become the club of choice for those attending College.
New Players. In the last fortnight we have seen a good group of first year footballers from the school, this along with some new recruits & a few returning players has seen numbers build. We are now heading into February & whilst the season is still two months away this time will fly, for those who are yet to come out it would be great to see you out on the track.
Subs. Despite a challenging year financially in ’23 the committee resolved to leave subs at the same level for season ’24 – Women $285/U19 $160; Men $370/U19 $220. My understanding is the subscription portal will now include an instalment option by PayPal over four payments which will help with spreading the financial commitment, we will send more information about this closer to the season commencement.
Training & Trial Matches. The trial games are as follows and include both men's and women's teams.23rd March vs Pembroke at Woodville West Torrens (East Parade Reserve).
2nd April vs Tea Tree Gully at Tea Tree Gully.
Training will continue on Monday & Wednesday Evenings for both groups at KRO until 6th March then will revert to women’s Monday/Wednesday & men’s Tues /Thursday going forward, check the schedule on socials.
Committee. The new committee met for the first time this year last Wednesday evening, there was plenty of energy & action items raised for each portfolio & the team has hit the ground running to complete by the next meeting.
The club is still searching for a Men’s C Grade Coach, if anyone is interested or have any leads please contact the club so we can follow up.
