Dear All,
The season is well and truly underway, we are four rounds in with mixed results so far.
Our Women's teams are leading the way. Results to date: our A-Grade have had 2 wins & our reserves team one win. Our women's group continue to develop under A-Grade coach Jason Baily & it is great to announce our newly appointed B-Grade coach Andrew Moulds. The competition is still working itself out with the return of SANFL development players, & we will see where we stand over the next four weeks.
Men's results so far: our C-Grade have 2 wins with our A-Grade & B-Grade yet to break through for a victory. Our A-grade has been extremely competitive against their opposition, all of whom are in the top four. Losses of 11, 18, 12 & 24 points respectively show how tight this competition is. A spirited effort against top side Salisbury North on their home deck last week, where we won the last three quarters, shows that we are capable. The B-Grade has had a similar start & been well in the mix in three of four outings, leading in the last quarter of two games. We just need to finish our hard work through to the end, we are very close.
There has been plenty happening off the field too. We hosted our annual Player Auction Lunch on Sunday 21st April where we had over 100 attendees. Many thanks to Megan Leydon & Mikayla Black who organised the event, to Rick Ward our auctioneer who extracted the maximum from the crowd, to bar volunteers Jack Sexton, Eddie Debenham & Tom Roberts along with the players who helped with food service.
We have had excellent crowds at all home games. The BBQ income has been reflective of this support & is a measure of our strong community. This service cannot happen without our volunteers, and I would like to thank those below for their effort over the first four rounds:
Round 1 Rick & Sharon Ward, Anth & Caroline Davies, James O’Loughlin & Mark Turner.
Round 2 Sarah Baily, Julie Winter, Fiona & Paul Ingram & Rebekah Ryan.
Round 3 Julia Grant, Sandy Carruthers, Aidan Leahy, Annemarie and Michaela Dhillon, Louise Ormandy
Round 4 Michelle Puglerine, Julie Winter, Julia Grant, Andrew & Tracey Moulds, Michael Tanti.
Below are the men's & women’s home game roster for the remainder of the year. We have two spots to fill in each shaded yellow, for the men’s we need coverage for 27/7 & 10/8, women’s we need support for the 2.30 shift on 1/6 & 22/6 - please contact me directly if you’re able to volunteer so that we can fill the final games.
We have Tom McClure & the Grill'd team cooking their delicious burgers for our patrons this week. They will be ably assisted by the Black family. It is going to be a cracking day at KRO & we would love to see as many supporters along as possible to cheer the boys to a good result.
On the social scene, we held our first Bath function with the iPod Shuffle Night which went extremely well. Everyone had a great night & the Bath were thrilled with how it went. We have three official Wolf Pack Events in the near future, please save the date & get along, they will be fantastic days:
Saturday 25th May - Past Players & Supporters Day. We will have all 5 teams playing at KRO for this event. The women are playing Happy Valley, who we have enjoyed a strong rivalry with over the years. The men are playing ROCS, which needs no explanation, & all should be hard-fought games. Get in contact with your past teammates, family, friends & anyone who has been associated with the Club to get along to this day & celebrate all that is Iggies for the last 52 years.
Saturday 29th June - Sponsors Day. We will send out invites & more information closer to the date.
Saturday 13th July - Ladies Day. The A-grade women are playing on Friday 12th vs Westminster under lights at KRO, and the B's have a bye. It would be terrific to get a strong crowd to the game on Friday night and then move into Saturday where we can celebrate women - players, mothers, sisters, sponsors & all the volunteers who have been involved with the Club over its history
Below is a follow-up on a few items from the last communication:
Merchandise Portal is open until Midnight Sunday 12th May. This will be the last opportunity to buy Iggies merch this year. Only the items listed on the site are available due to minimum quantity order requirements. If players are looking for game day shorts or socks we have stock, please contact me privately.
Sponsorship. We are pleased to announce our sponsorship initiatives, driven by JP Calabrese, have seen 100% retention of sponsors from last year, with 4 returning from previous years & 12 new sponsors joining the Iggies family. We thank all our sponsors [listed below] for their support, without your generosity we could not deliver the football program for our playing members, it is greatly appreciated.
Members drive has been going well, many thanks to Pete Ormandy for facilitating this initiative & for those who have joined to date, your support is greatly valued. To date, we have 37 confirmed social members (listed below). We will have your packs ready for pick up from this Saturday from behind the bar at KRO.
That's all until the next update, I can confidently say all indicators & metrics of the Club are going in the right trajectory. The vibe around the Club is excellent, we are close to breaking through for a win in the A & B men's teams & the continued success of the A & B women & C men’s is terrific. I look forward to seeing you at a game over the next few weeks.
Regards Bevan
