Greg Anderson to coach Old Iggies in 2013

The Club’s coaching panel sub-committee has been through a thorough and detailed process to find a replacement for Julian Wait as A Grade coach in 2013 and we are now in a position to announce our coaching panel for 2013.

The club is pleased to announce the appointment of former Essendon and Adelaide player Greg Anderson as A grade coach in 2013.  Ando had a distinguished playing career, winning a Magarey Medal in 1986 with the Port Adelaide Magpies before moving to Melbourne and playing over 100 games with Essendon in the VFL/AFL.  He moved back to Adelaide to play in the inaugural Crows team in 1993 before finishing his playing career back at Port Adelaide Magpies.

Following his playing career, Ando has had stints coaching South Adelaide in the SANFL, as well as winning a flag with Cove in the Southern League and more recently coaching Gepps Cross in Division 1.

Ando was introduced to the club by close friend and former Iggies player Mike “Splash” Neindorf, who will also be helping out on the sidelines in 2013.  They will be joined at the club by a highly credentialed panel of assistant coaches:

  • Former AFL listed player and Club B&F winner, Josh Willoughby
  • 2012 assistant coach and former Port Magpies stalwart, Antony Sheehan
  • Former St Ignatius College 1st XVIII coach, Simon Butler
  • Former club champion, Saul Heffernan

With so many good people wanting to take an active role in ensuring our success, the 2013 season is shaping up to be one of the most promising in a number of years.

Planning is well under way in respect of our 2013 campaign. Details of our pre-season training program will be circulated shortly.
