Club News 2010 News 1The Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Joe Pedler as a Playing Assistant Coach for season 2010. The Club is extremely excited about attracting a player of Joe’s quality to our Club. Joe played 124 games for the Eagles in the SANFL. He won the Best Team Man Award in 2005, The Best Defender Award in 2006, was a member of the Eagles Team of the Decade and The SANFL Team of The Year in 2005. Joe experienced the ultimate success, playing at CHB in the League Premiership of 2006. Joe is a teacher at St Ignatius and is looking forward to playing footy with the many players he used to teach, as well as those he will teach over the next few years. The Club has been active in trying to strengthen our playing list for 2010. We have a wonderful group of young players, which was highlighted with around a dozen players under 21yo playing in the A Grade Finals last season. The B and C Grade also featured a large number of young players, which is great for the seasons ahead. Michael Zillante has rejoined the club after spending several successful seasons at Uraidla in the Hills League. Michael played senior footy at Norwood, before moving to the Hills League and enjoying a premiership at Uraidla. After watching a few games last season, he was impressed with the youthfulness and quality of our team and has decided to rejoin our Club. His experience and strength will be a valuable asset for the Club. The Club is pleased to announce Stephen White will be joining the club for season 2010. Stephen is a Sturt Premiership team mate of Andrew Whiteman’s and is looking forward to playing with Andrew and his new team mates.
A benefit of improving the A Grade List will be a stronger B and C Grade squads. Aba Tomich, who played league footy at West Adelaide, has been appointed B Grade Development Coach. He will be working alongside Garry Minuzzo with the younger players to help them improve and get ready for A Grade footy. The Club is extremely excited about the season ahead and the quality of players joining our strong list. I strongly encourage all players to participate in pre-season and get yourself in the best condition possible for a successful season ahead. A full pre-season program will be sent out prior to Christmas. Please contact the coaches if you are unable to attend training, or if you would like to discuss any issues further: A Grade – Dave LeMire (dlemire@internode.on.net or 0412 252 744 ) 2009 Club Awards A Grade

The Bath Hotel We are pleased to announce that the club has secured the Bath Hotel as our major sponsors from this season. Please make every effort to come back to the Bath after trainings and matches this season and enjoy the scenery of one of Adelaide finest pubs. ________________________________________________________________________________ Letter from our President Dear Supporters, With pre-season well under way, and the season fast approaching, I am pleased to update our valuable supporters on some exciting news at the Club. I am thrilled to announce that the Club has secured a major sponsorship deal with The Bath Hotel at Norwood. Undoubtedly the best Hotel in the eastern suburbs, the Club is excited about the social benefits of making this our new home base. The support of the Franzon family has been very much appreciated, and I encourage all of our supporters to patronize our new home base. In appreciation of their long-term support, Adrian and Leon Saturno were awarded Life Membership at our AGM in December. Their financial contribution to the Club over approximately 20 years was crucial to the Club's survival, and we sincerely thank them. In recent years our Family Day Luncheon at the Junior School has become the most important social event of the season. With close to 200 supporters, players and past players socializing, it's a special day on the calendar. While final details are yet to be confirmed, please put Sunday April 13th into your diary. I hope by providing 2½ months notice, all of our supporters can attend. The event will again be held at the junior school and further details will be provided as soon as they are confirmed. Pre-season training commenced prior to Christmas, with good attendance by players. I'm pleased to inform you that around a dozen new players have joined the Club direct from St Ignatius. As you all know, our future relies on maintaining our close links with the College, and the influx of school leavers helps continue the tradition. The DePoi family has kindly put together a package to help the Club entice and retain school leavers to the Club. Their long term support is greatly appreciated, as is that of all of our valuable sponsors. Looking forward to an enjoyable season in 2008 and your continued support. Please feel free to contact me to discuss anything regarding the Club at any time. Pete Zollo President OIFC ________________________________________________________________________________ New Life Members After having been sponsored by "Booze Brothers" for many seasons, the club has felt it only right to recognise the contribution that Adrian and Leon Saturno have given to the club during this team. At the recent AGM, a proposal that Adrian and Leon should receive life membership for the Old Ignatians Football Club was unanimously approved. ________________________________________________________________________________ 2007 Summary Click below for the 2007 presentation day awards: ________________________________________________________________________________ 2006 Summary Click below for the 2007 summary: ________________________________________________________________________________
